Home Sauna

About Home Sauna

We're an independent editorial site covering the home sauna category — infrared, traditional, barrel, portable, and outdoor models. We exist to help people compare options before spending $1,000–$15,000 on equipment that will sit in their home for a decade or more.

Our methodology

Every roundup and review on this site is built from four sources:

  1. Manufacturer spec sheets — heater type and wattage, wood species, interior dimensions, voltage requirements, EMF measurements (for infrared), and warranty terms. We list these verbatim so you can compare apples to apples.
  2. Owner forums and Reddit communities — long-term ownership feedback that you won't find in retail reviews. We pay particular attention to threads about repair experiences and how manufacturers handle warranty claims after year three.
  3. Verified-purchase reviews across Amazon, the manufacturer's own site, and major retailers — weighted for recency and filtered for the patterns that recur across hundreds of buyers rather than individual five-star or one-star outliers.
  4. Installer interviews for the higher-end traditional and outdoor models. The brands that win on day one don't always win on year five — and the people who service these units every week know which ones come back.

What we don't do

We don't accept product samples in exchange for coverage. The math doesn't work out for us long-term, and it changes how you write whether you mean it to or not.

We don't publish "sponsored" reviews disguised as editorial picks. If we feature a product, we got there through research — never through payment from the manufacturer or retailer.

We don't quote live prices in our content. Sauna prices fluctuate by season, retailer, and manufacturer promotions. Every "Check price" link on this site routes to the retailer's current listing so you see the real number at the moment you click.

How we make money

Most outbound product links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and end up buying, the retailer pays us a small commission at no additional cost to you. That commission funds the research hours behind every piece on this site.

You can read the full disclosure on our affiliate disclosure page.
